Pioneer Square, the Sandwich District?!? Really? This is seriously whacked out. Or is it?
The Stranger reports this week that Pioneer Square should be dubbed Seattle’s Sandwich District. Click here for proof.
They’re talking about the neighborhood fav’s Delicatus and Salumi and Tat’s and even posting delicious looking photos of the above’s sandwiches:

Okay, granted, there are several awesome sandwich shops in Pioneer Square. And between our love for the Sounders and the old, gorgeous architecture of P.Square, we’re routing for the revitalization of the area as much as the next guy.
But Fremont surely gives “the Sandwich District” a run for it’s money, no? We have some heavy hitters: Passeo, Baguette Box, Royal Grinders, Roxy’s (they make my Grandpa Merle an old world tongue sandwich, you gotta love that)… that Italian place down the street that has soccer on tv all the time, Lucky sells banh mis, PCC’s pre-mades are pretty declicious, and Nana’s w/the corn chowder! The list GOES ON AND ON.
As a neighborhood, we need to stand up and eat sandwiches together and then talk about them more loudly… because these cats in the South End are killing us here in the publicity realm.
Look, we all love sandwiches. A lot. I know Homegrown is supposed to be the sandwich shop promoting community building and a “Michael Pollan-Induced Messianic Era Of World Peace Through Sandwiches,” but I’m about to start quoting Dead Prez I’m so heated…
